2 months since convulsions stopped

Its been 2 months today since Yafaau’s convulsions stopped and Alhamdhu lillah, he havent had any since then. Even though its stopped Yafaau will still be on anti-convulsions as prescribed by our doctor.

We did another EEG but were very happy that there was no hypsarrythmia on either one.

Took his first EEG:

It seems that it was not highly abnormal. The neurologist wrote in the report that there was nothing on the EEG.

on the 29th of this month Doctor advised to stop Phenobarbitone

on the 29th of this month Doctor advised to stop Phenobarbitone, which had mixed feelings for us. And the following day, day before yesterday onwards his social smile to mother increased a lot. It was great feeling that he is getting better day by day. We have notice greatly that after stopping phonobarbitone he is responding to sounds and looking at our faces quite a while now. The social smile is more common than before and hope that is a good milestone in his life. First of all thanks to our President for providing me with this trip and Dr Niyaf, Dr Afeef and Dr Jagdish for their understanding and cooperation to us. Tommorrow we are off to Sri Lanka and I will try to update but dont expect me to as I will be short of money and time. But detailed info will surely be there when I come back.

Stopped phenobarbitone:

Today Doctor advised to stop Phenobarbitone, which had mixed feelings for us. And the following day, day before yesterday onwards his social smile to mother increased a lot. Day before yesterday night he had severe colic

Day before yesterday night he had severe colic discomfort and showed to a pediatrician and he said its okay for a babies at 2 to 6 months. We were worried because he might develop fits while crying from the pain of his little stomach. We give him SMA sometimes and now we have changed to Enfelac A+, he didn’t pass motion yesterday. But at night he did which was a relief.

Weight: 3.5kg

Colic:

Day before yesterday night he had severe colic discomfort and showed to a pediatrician and he said its okay for a babies at 2 to 6 months. We were worried because he might develop fits while crying from the pain of his little stomach. We give him Expressed Breast milk and SMA sometimes and now we have changed to Enfelac A+

He had his first seizure:

Within 24hrs of birth baby developed generalized tonic seizures. Diagnosis was thus revised to HIE stage 2/3. Case managed with IVF(IV Fluids), phenobarbitone, prophylatic antibiotics, Oxygen, dexamethasone and supportive measures. Baby’s condition was so critical that our little baby spent his first 24hrs in Nursery, far away from mommy.
