Noted exessive crying and pulling of legs so showed to OPD. Admitted in nursery for "colic discomfort".

Vaccines:

Second dose of hep-B was given today. We couldn't give DPT because it had Pertosis. We do not have DT(dual vaccine) here in Mal?,

First dose of vaccines:

BCG,Polio, HEP-B were given today. Normally these vaccines are given just after birth..

In room with mommy:

Discharged from nursery to our room with NG tube. We gave EBM.

CT Scan:

Had his CT. On 5th DOL a CT Scan was taken and its impression was Cephal haematoma in right temporal and parieto-occipital regions. Hypoxic changes in cerebral parenchyma. (Detailed Evaluation of brain) Link: CT Scan

Apnea!

Baby developed short periods of Apnea. On 3rd and 4th DOL baby developed short periods of apnea managed by bag and mask ventilation. Mechanical ventilation was considered but deffered on account of good ABG's & good recovery and physical stimulation, bag and mask ventilation ~1min.

Sympathetic eyes:

The first time we saw him open his eyes and heard his cry at the nursery. Had involuntary movements, doc mentioned as hypotonia.

SIL saw baby after long night:

After recovering well and wanting to see how our little fellow was doing SIL wanted to see our first baby boy who was all hooked up.

He had his first seizure:

Within 24hrs of birth baby developed generalized tonic seizures. Diagnosis was thus revised to HIE stage 2/3. Case managed with IVF(IV Fluids), phenobarbitone, prophylatic antibiotics, Oxygen, dexamethasone and supportive measures. Baby's condition was so critical that our little baby spent his first 24hrs in Nursery, far away from mommy. Link: Check discharge summary, Page 1 | Page 2
